WE DO CONCRETE SCANNING FOR OTTAWA, ONTARIO & QUEBEC JOBS

Sub-surface imaging is an important part of any construction project. To safely and properly install heating, plumbing, and electricity, technicians must first know what already exists beneath the surface. For example, if a team wants to create a new floor in an office building, they must first know what’s in the walls to avoid accidentally cutting important wires for servers and computers.

Electrical scanning usually requires a second company to come on board your project in order to locate electrical leads and steel rods before the drilling or cutting begins. However, our team in Ottawa can handle concrete scanning such as electrical, rebar, and GPR scanning. This saves you the time and money from having to subcontract it out.

Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR)

We are one of the few companies that use Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR). At General Concrete Cutting and Coring Ltd, we use Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) to ensure that no accidental cutting or drilling will be done, saving us time and saving you a potential problem.

GPR is safe and cost-effective when it comes to locating objects below the surface of your concrete before cutting or coring. GPR is used for:

  • Concrete evaluation

  • Finding conduits

  • Leak detection

  • Locating post-tension cables

  • Finding structural steel

  • Detecting voids (air gaps)

Benefits of GPR include quiet scanning, efficiency, and virtually no radiation-related health concerns (unlike x-rays, which are also commonly used for this task).
